Sun’s Rays on Bottle
The focusing power of a water-filled bottle was shown in Masterton when a fire was discovered to have originated through a bottle standing near a hairbrush on a dressing table in the morning sunlight. The occupant of the room was about to go to breakfast when he noticed a column of smoke rising from the hairbrush, where the sun’s rays were focused after passing through the bottle. The fire was not hard to extinguish, but it might have given rise to serious consequences had it not been discovered,
