Miss Mildred Hamilton has returned from Wellington, where she had a refresher course in dancing with Miss Fhyllis Bates. At a meeting attended by the full staff of the Gisborne Harbour Board, a presentation was made to Mr. Robin Sinclair, a member of the Second Echelon. The secretary-manager, Mr. H. A. Barton, made the presentation, which took the form of a uniform case, and his remarks were endorsed by Mr. R. Morse, on behalf of the outside staff. Mr. Sinclair joined the staff of the board in February, 1936. Members ol the Poverty Bay Licensed Victuallers’ Association recently farewelled Mr. J. K. Popple, who had resigned the presidency because he was giving up business in Gisborne. Mr. P. C. Elliott referred to the services rendered by Mr. Popple as president, vice-president, and also lor a time as secretai-y. On behalf of the members, he presented a piece of plate, suitably "engraved, as a mai’k of appreciation. Mr. Popple thanked the members for their expressions of goodwill.
