Prime Minister’s Death A motion expressing profound sympathy with the Cabinet in the loss sustained through the death of the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage, was passed at to-day’s meeting of the Poverty Bay Electric-Power Board, all members standing in silence. Grant to Wairoa Patriotic Fund A decision to grant £3 3s to the local patriotic fund was made by the Wairoa County Rugby. Sub-Union at its annual meeting on Wednesday evening, a proposal to make a loan to the Government for war purposes of £IOO free of interest being defeated.— Special.

Selecting Wairoa Rugby Reps. A recommendation to the management committee that in the event of a match being staged in Wairoa for the benefit of the Hawke’s Bay senior selector, it should not be an Eastern v. Western fixture but if possible a representative one. was made at the annual meeting of the Wairoa County Rugby Sub-Union.—Special. East Coast Nurses The annual meeting of the East Coast branch of the Registered Nurses’ Association was held at the Ruatoria Hotel recently. Those present were Mrs. E. W. Hobcroft, president, Mesdames Morgan Williams, R. W. Ford. Tom Reedy, P. G. Burton, I. S. C. Dalgairns, T. liovell, J. A. Mullooly; Misses North (Gisborne), I. Banks, P. Parr, and A. Herron. Apologies were received from Mrs. J. Boag, Mrs. T. Murtagh, and Misses Cornish, Dell, and Makreth. A "bring and buy” sale was well patronised. Miss North addressed the members concerning the remits from the recent conference. Mrs. Hobcroft, on behalf of the members, presented Nurse Parr, who is leaving Tikitfki, with a farewell gift, wishing her the best of luck. Mrs. Burton served a delicious afternoon tea— Special,
