“HANDS-OFF-RUSSIA” N.S.W. LABOUR CHARGED REPUDIATION BY M.P.’S (Reccl. March 28, 2.40 p.m.) SYDNEY, March 28. The Australian Prime Minister, Mr. R. G. Menzies, commenting on the “hands off Russia” resolution passed by the New South Wales Labour conference at Easter, declared that to place the Soviet before Australia was treason. The pro-Russian resolution represented an attempt to slow up Australia’s war effort. The New South Wales Parliamentary Labour leader, Mr. McKell, in a statement issued after a meeting of his party, declared that the party adhered to the war and defence policy of the Federal Parliamentary Party. “We regard Germany’s allies as the enemies of Britain and, therefore, of Australia,” he said.
