BREEDING EWE RATES FAT SHEEP EASIER ADDINGTON MARKET (Pfir Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. There was again a heavy entry of sheep at the Addington market yesterday, about 17,000 of the 28.000 coming forward being breeding ewes. These had been selling at steadily reducing prices at. the fairs, but yesterday there was a sharp recovery, values being better than at the last Addington sale by Is Gd a head for most classes, and on the bedrock rates of the Waiau Fair the preceding day of 3s to 3s Gd a head dearer. In a number of cases the best Southland two-tooths, Romney cross, sold to 40s Gd, North Island to 34s Gd, Canterbury to 37s 3d and local soundmouthed to 245. Fine wools sold to 21s for four-year for average sorts. Fat lambs sold at up to schedule rates for better sorts, but light lambs wore slightly easier. One of the principal works is not operating on account of flood damage. The fat sheep section contained a large entry of 8000 head and, after the first part of the sale, values eased by up to Is Gd for export ewes and Is for better classes. Good wethers sold at from 26s to 295, with tops to 34s 9d; station wethers sold down to 17s, the best ewes from 22s to 245, with tops to 27s Gd. Export, sorts ranged from 10s to lGs. Fat cattle were in over-supply and there was a slight easing in all classes. The best steers sold at from £l4 10s to £IG, with a few tops to £2O. Most of the steers were of medium class and ranged from £l2 to £l4. The best of cows made from £9 to £lO, and heifers £1 more. Fat pigs sold erratically. Porkers were weaker by 3s to 4s a head, but choppers were better and baconers were unchanged. Porkers made 34s Gd to 54s Gd, the average price being 6,’ d to 7d per lb. Baconers made 59s 6d to £4 18s 6d, the average price, being Gld to 7d per lb.
