Pclly-Ofliccr Chas. Tadman. of HjM.S. Achilles, will visit Gisborne later in the month as the guest of his uncle, Mr. F. Mills, Te Karaka. Dr. J. C. Collins, who had been an inmate of a hospital in Wellington for some time, returned to Gisborne at the week-end much 'improved in health. Because the annual conference ot the Municipal Association is being held on March 7, the civic farewell arranged in Auckland in honour of Archbishop Averill, retiring Primate of New Zealand, has been postponed until March 14. The Apostolic Delegate, Archbishop Panico, who was Papal Legate to the New Zealand National Eucharistic Congress, made a farewell call on Friday on the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage, at his home in Northland, Wellington. Mr. Raymond Beatty, the popular Sydney baritone, has been engaged to sing the music of the title role in Mendelssohn’s oratorio, “Elijah,” to be performed in the Town Hall, Wellington,, by the Royal Choral Union on March 30. The Rev. Father P. Timoney, administrator of the Catholic Cathedral, Christchurch, has been appointed parish priest at' Papanui, and his place as administrator will be filled by Rev, Father J. Quinn, who has been at Wataroa for six years.
