LATE SPORTING

DIGGERS AT BOWLS ANNUAL TOURNAMENT SIX RINKS TAKE PART The first annual bowling tournament for Diggers was played this afternoon on the Gisborne Bowling Club’s green. The green was playing well, although slightly holding ds a result of the rain this morning. There was an attendance of 51 bowlers, and six rinks were started early in the afternoon, the following being the draw for the first I round:—Park v. Hughes; Lane v McKenzie; McGrannacban v. Bayliss; Meredith v. Williams; Murray v. Somervell; Jackson v. Riddell. The tournament was inaugurated last season and proved so successful that it was decided to make the series an annual fixture. A committee was set up consisting of Messrs. D. J. Duncan, W. Neal, and Meredith.
