MID-CANTERBURY RIVER PLANT ENDANGERED (Per Press Association.) ASHBURTON, this day. The Rakaia River, which is in the highest flood in 50 years, covered the old traffic bridge. The Rangitata River, which also is at record height, threatened the Public Works Department plant, valued at over £30,000, at the intake to the diversion race at Klondyke. Precautionary ' measures were necessary but until the water recedes the extent of the damage will not be known though it is believed not to be serious. Some erosion occurred at the approach to the southern end of _ the north traffic -bridge at Rangitata Island on the Main South road.
