TIDES AT GISBORNE WHARF STANDARD TIME
THE WEATHER Last Night’s Forecast General Situation. —Pressure is high to the north-east. A depression lies across the centre of the Dominion and another is approaching across the south Tasman Sea. Forecast: Moderate to fresh winds from between south-west and northwest predominating over the South Island, and fresh to strong northerlies to westerlies over the North Island. Seas: In New Zealand waters rather rough to rough on the west coast and about Cook Strait. Elsewhere slight to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate to strong winds from a north-westerly quarter with a change to south-westerly advancing later from the south; seas, rather rough. Weather: Cloudy and unsettled in western areas, with mist or fog in places and scattered drizzle or rain. Some heavy falls are still likely in Westland and the central province, fair in eastern districts but with showers extending later from the south. Temperatures: Moderate in the south, mild to warm in the north. To-day’s North Island Report The early morning temperature at Gisborne was again very high to-day. 77 degrees being registered at 9 o'clock. Other temperatures were:— Tauranga, 75 degrees; Napier, 74; Opotiki and East Cape, 71; Auckland, 69; Wellington, 62. Skies were again cloudy and overcast. The barometer was steady. Winds were from the north-west. Seas were smooth to moderate. Midday Forecast General situation.—Pressure has risen- considerably over southern New Zealand, but a weak disturbance is still located in the eastern Tasman Sea. Forecast. —Northerly to westerly winds predominating and freshening at times. Weather mainly fair and warm, but, some rain in the high country and the south. Seas slight.
