The Washington correspondent of the New York Times says that diplomatic circles understand that a deal has been consummated by which Germany will sell to Sweden all the Swedish type of armaments captured in Poland, including heavy artillery and anti-aircraft guns. Since Sweden is privately shipping arms to Finland, there is speculation as to the reason for Germany’s willingness to deal with Sweden, particularly in view of Russia’s warning against interference in the Finnish campaign. The theories include one that Germany is anxious to prevent Russia advancing westward if Finland falls and also that Germany is hard-pressed for cash supplies. Perhaps the reason is purely economic. AMERICAN EXPLORER NATURALISED BRITON SERVICE IN FINLAND (Reed. Feb. 29, 11.45 a.m.) LONDON, Feb. 28. The American explorer, Kermit R'oosevelt, has now become a naturalised British subject and will leaa British volunteers in Finland. ADVANCE IN FINLAND CLAIM BY RUSSIANS PLANES SHOT DOWN (Reed. Feb. 29. 11.50 a.m.) LENINGRAD, Feb. 28. A Soviet communique states that breaking through the Finnish fortified zone, the Russians occupied 13 strong points and shot down six Finnish planes.
