RAIDER PUT DOWN FIGHT IN NORTH SEA SUBMARINE WRECKED RAMMED BY NEUTRAL DANISH PRECAUTIONS (Elcc. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Reed. Feb. 29, 11 a.m.) LONDON, Feb. 28. The Arora of 192 toils, from Aberdeen, one of four trawlers which Nazi planes attacked in the North Sea yesterday returned the fire with a Lewis gun and is believed to have destroyed a Nazi plane. During the battle the Nazis dropped four bombs, one of which set tire to the stern of the Arora, but the lire was extinguished by the second engineer. Two other trawlers reached port with their decks perforated with bullet holes. The fourth trawler continued fishing throughout the night. A search by planes and ships failed to locate the three Nazis in a rubber boat whom the Royal Air Force shot down off the Northumberland coast yesterday. Periscope Torn Off A report from Bergen states that the crew of the Norwegian steamer Annfinn, of 729 tons, arrived after the vessel had rammed arid, it is believed, sunk a submarine in the North Sea. The Annfmn’s keel tore off the submarine's periscope. The Annfinn was holed, hut the crew manned the pumps and brought her half-submerged close to the shore where the crew were rescued, a steamer towing the Annfinn to safety. A Copenhagen message says that the United Steam Ship Company reports that the Maryland of 4895 tons, with a crew of 34 is feared to have been lost while homeward bound from Madeira laden with oilcakes. The Copenhagen correspondent of The Times stated that 100 Danish trawlers have gone to Esbjerg from the Doggerbank, declaring that the latter area is too dangerous to fish because aeroplanes are incessantly circling overhead and have sunk at least one Danish trawler,
