FLOODING AFTERMATH HINDRANCE TO TRAFFIC The Automobile Association (Auckland) has issued the following report on North Island roads which were affected by the week-end flooding, the information being as supplied at 5 p.m. yesterday:— Te Kuiti-New Plymouth. —Closed, many slips. Public Works Department trying to secure a bulldozer from Wellington. If successful, road will be opened in about two days; if unsuccessful, it will take some time to clear the large number of slips. The Mahoenui to Uruti section was reported this morning to be closed for a week, but later advice may modify this. Tc Kuiti-Taumarunui. —Traffic on this section is getting through by using the Tangitu-Waimiha-Ongarue detour. This detour is in bad order, and is not recommended to any but essential traffic.' Taupo-National Park. —Available for traffic during the daytime only. National Park-Ohakune-Taihape.— Available for traffic during the daytime only. Waiouru-Tokaanu (Desert road).— Not recommended. At present the best route between Auckland and Wellington is that through Napier and Taupo, where road conditions are reasonable throughout.
