Mr. D. Marshall, district supervisor, Department of Agriculture, Wellington, and Mr. A. D. M. G. Laing, Government veterinarian, Hastings, are visiting Wairoa.—Special. Mr. C. F. Jacobs, superivsor for the Guardian Trust and Executors of New Zealand, Auckland, is visiting the Wairarapa district. He expects to return to Auckland, via Hawke's Bay and Gisborne districts, next week. Mr. J. F. Colterill, M.P. for Wanganui, who .has been serving as a corporal with B company (Wellington West Coast Regiment), 22nd Rifle Battalion of the Second Echelon, at Trentham, has been promoted to the rank of sergeant. Mr. James Dakin,' a former Otago Rhodes scholar, and now a member of the British Civil Service in East Africa, is leaving Auckland shortly en route to South Africa, after a visit to friends and relatives in the Dominion. Mr. T. H. Dolan, Christchurch, is relieving Mr. A. M. Robertson, chief postmaster at Gisborne, during the latter’s absence from duty on sick leave." Mr. Robertson will resume his duties next Monday. As a result of a request made by a deputation of ratepayers in the Waikaremoana riding, Mr. D. H. Robertson, Ardkeen, has agreed to allow himself to be nominated for the vacancy on the Wairoa County Council caused by the resignation of Mr. D. V. Thomas. —Special.
