RECRUITS WANTED

YOUTH OF DOMINION DEFENCE OF HERITAGE MR. HAMILTON’S PLEA AID TO GOVERNMENT (Per Press Association.) PALMERSTON N„ this day. An appeal to the youth of New Zealand to don khaki in defence of their heritage was the keynote of an address given by the Leader of the Opposition, the Hon. Adam Hamilton, last night. He said that the National Party had concluded that the war effort must be paramount, and provocative political campaigning must cease. In the meantime, as far as subversive influences were concerned, there was no doubt the Government had been flagrantly and unwarrantedly embarrassed. Our help is available to the Government to put an end to this,” sail Mr. Hamilton. There were some who said that there should be conscription, but Mr. Hamilton said he wished to state emphatically that the people must do nothing to undermine the voluntary system now that the Government had decided on it. “We must help to see that the declared policy of the Government is given support and a fair spin,” said Mr. Hamilton. “Next week I myself will be on the platform at Invercargill with the Hon. Peter Fraser at the start of a voluntary recruiting appeal."
