DUKE’S SON’S FRIEND £IOOO LEFT TO WIFE LONDON, Jan. 3. Lord Charles Montagu, son of the seventh Duke of Manchester, has left£ls,ooo in cash and £60,000 for life to Mile. Suzanne Leonide Renard, of Paris. His will was published yesterday. * He also left her his bank account, stocks and shares, and certain of his possessions in Paris. Lord Charles Montagu died last month. He was 79. To his wife, thrice-married Lady Charles Montagu, who is herself very rich, he left £IOOO. His total fortune was £278,701 13s, with net personalty £278,064 5s 3d. Bachelor Until He Was 70 Lord Charles Montagu remained unmarried until he was 70. His wife first married Viscount Chelsea and then Admiral of the Fleet Sir Hedworlh Meux. Sir Ilcdworth left his fortune of nearly a million pounds to her for life. After his marriage T ,ord Charles Montagu said: “It is nearly 40 years since I first met midwife. We are old friends, and understand each other well.” Other legacies in his will are: £2OOO 'and £SOOO on trust fo“ life to his valet, Walter Franks; and £15,000 to Mr. Oliver Stanley, son of Lord Derby and President of the Board of Trade. Mr. Stanley will get another £30,000 on the death of Mile. Renard. Lord Charles Montagu was partner in a firm of stockbrokers. He owned Kimbollon Castle, Huntingdonshire.
