SAVING IN EXCHANGE

RATIONING OF PETROL TWO TANKERS FREED (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. Unless there is a serious deterioration of the international situation it is the intention of the Government not to reduce the present petrol rations. The Minister of Supply, the Hon. D. G. Sullivan, in making his statement, thanked the people of the Dominion for the way they have accepted the restrictions which they would be glad to know were having the desired result, representing a saving of £l,000,000 annually in foreign exchange and a saving of at least 15 shipments of petrol to New Zealand, equivalent to freeing two tankers from the New Zealand trade for use elsewhere.
