SUIT FOR NULLITY

BRIDE OF MAN AGED 73 LONDON. Dec. 15. Arthur Peel Nash, of Portman square, Wh, aged 73, married at fashionable All Souls’ Church in January defended a Divorce Court petition by his wife, seeking to have their marriage annulled. Mrs. Nash, formerly Miss Joan Ivy Carlisle Lister, Mr, Nash’s secretary, is aged 34. She asked for a decree of nullity on the ground of non-consum-mation. Mr. R. G. Hillard, for Mr. Nash, said the question to be considered was: What was her motive in entering into the marriage? If her only motive was financial gain she could not complain of nonconsummation of the marriage, Mr. Justice Langton: You are saying that Mrs. Nash had no sincerity —that she never really meant to go through with tins, except to get herself into a position of commercial advantage?—Yes. The judge: Mrs. Nash has said that she wanted children. The lady you are describing—a stony-hearted golddigger—would not want children. They would bo a nuisance to her. Mr. Gerald Gardiner, for Mrs. Nash, said her primary motive was not money. She wanted a comfortable home and children. Judgment was reserved.
