SPANISH REFUGEES
THOUSANDS IN FRANCE PUBLIC WORKS JOBS (Reed. Feb. 28. 2.30 p.m.) PARS, Feb. 27. A quarter of a million out of the 500;000 Spanish refugees who had arrived in France at the end of the civil war in Spain, had departed by February 20. One hundred thousand of the remainder are women and children, of whom France is supporting 45,000. Men engaged on public works number 104,000 while 7000 remain in concentration camps, departing as work is found for them. Others are supporting themselves or have joined the French Foreign Legion.
