CAMPBELL ISLAND
ALBATROSSES DISTURBED Wild sheep on Campbell Island, a lonely outpost of New Zealand, are a reminder of failures to turn that bleak place into a farm, says the Forest and Bird Protection Society. The attempt spoilt a bird sanctuary, to some extent. It was a blunder much regretted by naturalists. At a recent meeting of the society's executive it was stated that the vagrant sheep were spoiling the breeding grounds of albatrosses. It was decided to make inquiries about the possibility of extermination of the animals.
