ISOLATION OF TOWNS
DAMAGE BY CYCLONE (Reed. Feb. 19, 1.40 p.m.) BRISBANE, Feb. 19. A cyclone of terrific force struck the coast of north Queensland yesterday. All communication with several towns was cut off. Fears are held for the safety of some small towns. Extensive damage was done in Townsville, which is facing the worst floods in its history. Raging seas smashed in the walls of houses and damaged other buildings. Shipping was severely buffeted.
