HIGH HERD TESTS
GISBORNE AND WAIROA FIGURES FOR JANUARY D 1 S' PR ICT ASSOC I ATI ON AVERAGE 33L.8. PER COW Gisborne and Wairoa herds are again among the highest in the January list issued by the Bay of Plenty and East Coast Herd Improvement Association for the period ended February 1. The association average from 27.172 cows was 331 b. of butterfat, and while some of the Gisborne, district groups did not reach the average, some of the herds reached high levels, Gisborne leading those of 20 cows ana under and Wairoa being at the top of those with 21 to 50 cows. The larger herds, however, did not compare so well with the large ones of the Bay of Plenty end of the territory, where an Edgecumbe herd of more than 100 cows averaged 451 b., the highest herd in the association for the month being 491 b., established by 21 cows in Wairoa.
