ODDS-ON WINNER

FITZGERALD’S ELECT JUGGLE KING SCORES FORM REPEATED (By “Trenton.”) As on the opening day of the Poverty Bay Turf Club’s summer meeting, Mr. E. N. Fitzgerald to-day supplied the winner of the Highweight Handicap, oh this occasion with Golden Blonde. The winner outclassed Tetahinga from start to finish and although the dividend was odds on, it was surprisingly good considering the vast difference in class between the two runners. Jungle King’s Trial Jungle King ran right up to bis first day’s form and won the Trial Handicap convincingly after running out from the rails in the straight. Kincarole was better suited by the longer distance and finished well for second without having a chance with the winner. Hunting Dawn went a good race, and Sweet Pal ran well well while her condition lasted.

A Waiting Race

As on the opening day, Raana was allowed to find his feet and lay in behind the other two runners. Small Boy and Happy Landing, until entering the straight. Here lie took the lead and although Small Boy hung on well he could make no impression on Raana in the run to the judge. Happy Landing ran a good race until well into the straight, but the hard ground was not to his liking. All Under the fVhip ‘Queen’s Dream had the Hack Cup in safe keeping halfway down the straight, where the whole field was under the whip. Red Cockade and Minnow made most of the running, but the latter faded once heads were turned for home and Queen’s Dream came on to score comfortably. Mendelssohn finished fast into third place behind Red Cockade 'after being almost down at the start, where he was squeezed back by Queen’s Dream.
