SINGLES SEMI-FINALS BROMWICH & MISS COYNE (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. The semi-finals of the men’s and women’s singles, which were interrupted by rain on Saturday, were resumed when play in the New Zealand centennial tennis championships began at 12.45 to-day. Brilliant sunshine, with a fresh northerly wind, provided ideal conditions, and well-filled galleries were treated to some sparkling tennis. After a closely contested match in which the result was in doubt until the finish, Miss Coyne eliminated Miss Hardcastle in the semi-final of the women's singles. When rain stopped play on Saturday the score was set all. Playing consistently well to-day, Miss Hardcastle ran to a 4 —2 lead in the final set, but Miss Coyne, who was prone to hit out in the early stages, then found touch and although Miss Hardcastle fought tenaciously until _ the finish her opponent was irresistible. The match held great interest for the spectators because of the many sustained rallies of fast driving. Women’s Singles
