TWEEDSMUIR DEAD
GOVERNOR OF CANADA FATAL CONCUSSION THREE OPERATIONS BLOOD TRANSFUSIONS (Klee. Thl. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Reed. Feb. 12. 3 p.m.) MONTREAL, Feb. 11. The death occurred this evening of the Governor-General of Canada, Lord Tweedsmuir, who suffered concussion as the result of a fall while dressing at Ottawa on Tuesday last. Lord Tweedsmuir’s death occurred at 7.13 p.m. Montreal time, _at the Montreal Neurological Institute, where he suffered a relapse in the forenoon, resulting in a third operation lasting for four hours, preceding and following which he was given blood transfusions. The physicians for a time believed he would withstand the operation well. Five specialists in conference had decided that an immediate blood trans fusion was necessary for the third operation. The donor is believed to have been Lord Tweedsmuir’s son, Alastair. Lord Tweedsmuir was the first King’s representative in Canada to die in office since the confederation.
