Water Supply
Sir,—l notice the usual prohibition as to the use of hoses and sprinklers for our gardens and lawns just at the very time that water is most needed. It has become our hardy annual, because it is the same old thing every summer for a good many years; Taking into consideration the several schemes that have been projected, and none of them has been adopted, and still no adequate supply, reminds me of what Mr. Frank Harris told us: That lots of schemes would be suggested and money wasted, and would be a failure. He also said that there is no inexhaustible supply of good and wholesome water anywhere in the district except from Waikaremoana, and that we can try whatever scheme we like, but eventually we will be compelled to go to the lake. J. PIERCE.
