NEW YEAR’S BALL
GAY TOKOMARU DANCE W.D.F.U. FUNCTION (H«rald Correspondent.) The Gaiety Theatre. Tokomaru Bay, was the scene of a bright and cheery function recently when the Tokomaru Bay branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union held a New Year Ball. Gay streamers, paper caps, and coloured balloons added to the festive appearance.
Wi Hapi’s orchestra supplied the music. A waltzing competition, of which the judges were Mrs. Hughes and Mr. C. McCracken, was won by Miss IVI. Grant and Mr. P. Burns, and a Monte Carlo waltz by Miss S. Potaka and Mr. T. Mulligan. A delicious buffet supper was served by the committee.
Among those present were Mrs. S. Teoheare, who wore a becoming frock of pale blue satin; Mrs. Ludbrook, black and white checked taffeta; Mrs. H. Boyce, royal blue taffeta; Mrs. Parkwick, white embossed crepe-de-chine; Mrs. L. Stevenson, black marocain; Mrs. C. Holah, ivory chenile velvet; Mrs. G. Olliver, black satin; Mrs. Smylhe, old rose satin; Mrs. Haisman, salmon windswept satin; Mrs. U. Whakataka, royal blue marocain; Mrs. Britton, black satin sashed with white; Mrs. K. Andrews, blue satin; Mrs. E. Sldllen, black taffeta shirt and floral jumper; Mrs. Hughes, black taffeta with .floral chiffon velvet coatee; Mrs. P. Wilson, black crepe-de-chine; Mrs. O. Piper, blue and white spotted silk; Mrs. J. Kouka, black satin; Mrs. M. Pewhairangi, floral georgette; Mrs. G. Horoki, tangerene satin; Mrs. P. Hui Hui, floral silk.
Mrs. G. Chambers chose a frock of black satin; Mrs. Cross, floral georgette; Mrs. F. Hale, navy blue marocain; Mrs. F. Gilray, white silk; Mrs. B. Samuels, floral taffeta; Mrs. S. Bruce, black lace; Mrs. C. Collier, green satin; Mrs. Clark, floral marocain; Mrs. J. Alexander, green satin; Mrs. S. Conole, henna lame; Mrs. W. Nevin, floral georgette. A model frock of black georgette was worn by Miss E. Hale; Miss M. Atkins, chose emerald green satin; Miss M. Kirk, cerise taffeta; Miss P. Manuel, floral georgette; Miss S. Poliatu, pink floral sheer; Miss G. Karauria, brown and white patterned crepe; Miss P. Gardner, strawberry taffeta; Miss N. Rawston, blue and white flowered cloque; Miss M. Gardner, maize chepe-de-chine; Miss E. Kopua, black satin: Miss E. Wallis, black ninon; Miss L. Tipuna, white georgette with crimson sash. Miss N. Quintal’s charming frock was of pale green hand-painted organzia; Miss M. Grant, purple sheer; Miss M. Kahu, apricot cloque; Miss J. King, black marocain; Miss L. Stevens, floral crepe; Miss T. O’Connor, white georgette; Miss E. Thompson, powder blue satin; Miss M. Nevin, Marina blue taffeta; Miss N. Bignell, floral taffeta; Miss N. Moody, maroon cloque; Miss P. Bignell,, green georgette; Miss J. Agnew, red crepe-de-chine; Miss M. Chaffey, white organdie; Miss W. Oates, pale blue taffeta; Miss C. Colbert, white georgette.
