BOY’S FEARFUL FATE LIMB BITTEN OFF RESCUER’S GALLANTRY ■ (Reed. Jan. 24, 9 a.m.) SYDNEY', Jan. 23. While swimming with two companions at North Brighton Beach today, Maxwell Farrin, aged 13, was attacked by a 10ft. shark and killed. The attack was made about 50yds. from the edge in 4ft. of water. The shark, with one bite, severed the boy’s leg and portion of his abdomen. A nearby resident, Sydney Owen, risked his life by swimming to the boy, who had drifted out, to bring him ashore while the shark was only 10ft. away. The boy died when brought to the beach.
