H.M.S Achilles’ Performance
Admiration for the part so far played by New Zealanders and other men of the Dominions in.the war is expressed in a letter received from an English firm in London by an Auckland manufacturer. “It must have been with satisfied pride that New Zealanders learned that H.M.S. Achilles, which is not only their ship but is also manned by New Zealanders had so vital a share in the naval victory,” states Ihe writer. “This is evidence that naval greatness is not ours alone in these Islands, and corroborates other evidence of the brilliant fighting qualities engendered throughout the Empire and manifested especially in the aerial engagements of this whr. It will never be forgotten what we owed to Anzac for the contribution in achieving victory in the Great War, and that debt will be greatly increased when this war has has been brought to a successful conclusion.”
