FRIDAY’S PARADE
MAORI DRAFT ESCORT EX-SERVICEMEN’S CALL REQUEST TO EMPLOYERS In connection with the dispatch of the Maori draft for Palmerston North on Friday morning, the Gisborne Returned Soldiers’ Association will muster ex-servicemen in Hirini street, opposite Dr. R. M. Gunn’s residence, at 8.15 a.m. Medal ribbons will be worn as a means of identification of the escort members, and the parade will be dismissed promptly at 9 a.m
The association has decided to invite all employers to facilitate the attendance of ex-servicemen at this parade as far as possible. The Mayor, Mr. D W. Coleman, iM.P., supports this invitation, and asks that where it is possible to do so with out dislocation of business, staff members also should be allowed to attend the farewell function at 8.30 o’clock. In the case of retail establishments, this will not mean the loss of more than a quarter of an hour, as the draft is due to leave at a minute or two before 9 o’clock.
