REMISSION OF RATES

Y.M.C.A. PROPERTY ACTION BY COUNCIL A request was made by the Y.M.C.A. at last night’s meeting of the Gisborne Borough Council for the remission of the rales charged the association’s property. The letter added that it had been the practice of the council to have the necessary authority granted under the Local Bodies’ Act for the remission of the Y.M.C.A. rates.

The Mayor, Mr. D. W. Coleman, M.P.. said that the council had sponsored legislation of the type desired on two previous occasions, and on his motion it was decided to take further action in respect of the present and past year's rates.
