VETERAN BOWLERS

ANNUAL GATHERING

THREE OCTOGENARIANS FOUR RINKS IN PLAY Four full rinks were in play on the Gisborne Bowling Club's green this morning, when members of the Gis-borne-East Coast Veteran Bowlers' Association opened their annual gathering. The weather was sweltering, but outdoors conditions were pleasant for the bowlers, and greens were very fast.

Three of the participants were octogenarians, and others bordered upon their eightieth year, though the average age of members present this morning would be nearer 70 than 89 years. Competition was keen, and it was expected that there would be a larger attendance this afternoon.

The programme included the annual business meeting of the association, which was to follow the afternoon tea adjournment.
