Military Camp Libraries

A question as to how the stocks of books donated for military camp libraries are to be disposed of was raised at a meeing of the Tauranganui Public Library Committee held last evening. It was pointed out that a large number of books had been received, and that the librarian was still awaiting information as to how the donations were to be forwarded. “I understand that they are dealing with the stocks held in libraries closer to the various camps, as a preliminary to collecting the more widely-scattered contributions,” said Dr. A. L. Singer, president of the committee. “They will get round to us in the long run.” It was decided not to press for instructions at the moment, but to advise library members and others that the stocks were being accumulated for use in the camps, and- that further contributions would be welcomed. The committee also decided to inquire as to its obligations under the patriotic funds legislation, respecting activity of this class, in order that there mght be no inadvertent infringement of. the regulations.
