TRAPPED IN SWAMP
PLANE BELOW WATER INSTRUCTOR’S DEATH ESCAPE OF CADET (Reed. Jan. 23, 9 a.m.) SYDNEY, Jan. 22. When a Gipsy Moth training plane nose-dived into a mangrove swamp near Kurnell, on Botany Bay, to-day, the pilot instructor, A. F. Brown, was trapped below the surface of the water.
Although he was breathing when rescued, he could not be revived. A cadet in the machine was seriously injured, but was saved.
