RIFLE SHOOTING
GISBORNE DEFENCE CLUB FOURTH HANDICAP SERIES FOSS WINS AGGREGATE Favourable weather conditions were experienced on the Mangapapa range on Saturday, when members of the Gisborne Defence Rifle Club continued the fourth handicap series of the season. The practices were at 200 and 300yds., with a maximum of 50 at each distance.
At 200yds. F. P. Jeune registered 48, and P. Foss was next with 47. At 300yds. F. J. Jeune and P. Foss were the top-scorers with scores of 46. The aggregate for the two ranges was won by P. Foss, handicap three, and a gross total of 96, second place being secured by T. Dolman, handicap four, and a total of 95. W. Sheriff and F. P. Jeune, with gross scores of 94, were placed third and fourth. With one match still to be fired to complete the competition, the three leading places are held by R. Bull, handicap live, 187, P. Teams’ Match Results A teams’ match held in conjunction with the shoot was won by No. 3 team, comprising T. Dolman, R. Bull, F. J. Jeune and W. Sherriff, with an aggregate of 360. No. 1 team, comprising N. Jackson, P. Foss, F. P. Jeune, and E. Sodersten, was second with 341, and No. 2 team, C. Lloyd, G. Holmes, A. Thomas ;yid R. Burson, aggregated 334 for third place.
