BUDGE EARNS £21,000
PROFESSIONAL TENNIS OPEN TOURNEY PLAY (Reed. Jan. 22, 2.15 p.m.) MIAMI BEACH. Jan. 21. Donald Budge reveals that his income in his first year of professional tennis was £21,000.' He expects a sharp drop in 1940 because professional tours are not , likely. He favours open tournaments, but stresses the point that the professionals a* present would outclass amateurs. He suggests that if the Davis Cup contests are dropped, temporarily amateur versus professional team matches would be useful.
