DECISIVE VICTORY
NEED OF DEMOCRACY LABOUR LEADER’S VIEW (British Official Wireless.) Reed. 9 a.m. RUGBY. Jan. 21. The chairman of the London County Council, Mr. Herbert Morrison, in a speech, said: “Let us not be under illusions as to the importance of a victory over the gangsterdom represented by the present German regime, and by victory I mean either a decisive victory of arms or of economicpressure, or, which would be still more welcome, such a victory by the German people over the Hitler Government, such an establishment of democracy and co-operative peaceful intent in Germany, as would mean that our purpose in this war had been effectively achieved by the German people themselves.”
