SLIGHT IMPROVEMENT P.B. BUYING SCALE DEPT. FIGURES SHADED A slight improvement, from the farmers’ point of view, has taken place in the schedule for lamb and mutton on which buyers in Gisborne are operating. The difference is represented by id per lb., and is set off to some extent by the allowances claimed by buyers in respect of seediness in wool. The improvement in price is attributable to the growth of wool on the sheep and lambs, and the new schedule rates are now as under:— Lamb Southdown.—36lb. and under, 8d per lb.; 37-421 b., 7Sd; 43-501 b„ 7id; over 501 b., 7d. Crossbred,—36lb. and under, 73d; 37-421 b., 7jjd; 43-501 b., 7Jd; over 501 b., 6id. Seconds.—36lb. and under, 7id; over, 361 b., 0.3 d. Shorn Lambs. —3d per lb. below schedule on all grades, and Id below if fleece contains under half a pound of wool. Seedy Deduction. —Light, 2d per head; medium, 4d per head; heavy, 6d per head; extra heavy. 8d per head. Wethers Prime. —481 b and under, t>3d; 49-56 lb., 43d; 57-641 b., 41d; 65-721 b., 4.jd: over 721 b., 3§d. Seconds. —561 b and under, 43d: Gslb. ancl over, 4id. Ewes Prime. —Under 651 b., 33d: 651 b. and over, 23d. The above rates apply to the Kaiti words. Tokomaru Bay’s schedule is 3d lower on all descriptions of lamb, and id lower on sheep. Cattle are purchased on the following tariff: — Ox beef, 145-2101 b., 31s 6d; unders and overs, and seconds, 26s 6d. Heifer beef. —Prime, 30s 6d; seconds, 25s 6d.
Cow Beef. —Prime, 24s 6d. Boners. —Bullocks, 21s; cows, 18s 6d.
