FRIENDSHIP TIES
CLOSER THAN BEFORE BRITAIN AND FRANCE CHURCHILL IMPRESSED VISIT TO FORCES (Elec. Tel. Copyright —United Press Assn.) (Reed. Jan. 10. 2.20 p.m.) LONDON, Jan. 9. “I have been greatly impressed with the co-operation and friendship between the British Expeditionary Force and the French, which is closer than in the last war,” said the First Lord of the Admiralty, Mr. Winston Churchill, in a statement at the British headquarters in France before departing on the conclusion of his visit to the forces.
“I have been particularly struck with the instant readiness of the Royal Air Force. I take back the same sense of organisation, discipline, zeal and steady confidence evident during my visit to the fleet.”
The Canadian Commander, MajorGeneral McNaughton, accompanied by his staff, arrived in France to-day.
