' MAY BE EXTENDED CLOTHING MATERIALS BRITISH PREDICTIONS (Reed. Jan. 10, 9 a.m.) LONDON. Jan. 9. Several of the morning papers forecast that the rationing scheme which already covers certain foodstuff's, will eventually be extended to clothing naterials. It is suggested that standard suits nay be designed for men and women containing a specified percentage of wool or silk. The director-general of equipment and supplies at the Ministry of Supply, Lord Woolton, said that the demands for the fighting forces would be most heavy in the next six months. ‘I think much can be said for a restricted range of clothes if it is 'ecessarv to curtail the amount of wool used for civilian purposes,” he said. Leeds manufacturers are quoted as saying tiiat wool might be scarce in 1941. The Yorkshire press recently indicated that there was some anxiety ibout future supplies.
