Wainui, southern ports, January 15. • COASTAL TRADE The Pukeko which left Gisborne last night, loads at Wellington on Thursday and Friday, and sails on Friday night for Gisborne. She is expected at Gisborne on Sunday and will leave later for Napier and Lyttelton. The Kopara left Auckland last night for the Coast, Gisborne and Napier, being expected here to-morrow. The Kapuni will load at Auckland on Friday and sail on Friday night for Gisborne. The vessel is expected here on Sunday, and will discharge on Monday morning, sailing later for Auckland. The Margaret W. sailed from Auckland yesterday afternoon for the Coast and Gisborne, and is due here to-mor-row. On her return to Auckland the vessel will make a call at Tolaga Bay. The Wainui, with southern cargo, left Timaru yesterday and was to leave Lyttelton to-day for Wellington. She is due at Gisborne next Monday. The Totara, with coal, is expected to sail from Westport to-morrow for Tokomaru Bay, where she is due next Monday. LINER QUEEN ELIZABETH The 86,000 tons Cunard-White Star liner Queen Elizabeth, under construction at Clydebank, is approaching completion. First of the ship’s furnaces have been lit below the boilers which will supply steam to drive the 200,000 s.h.p. propelling machinery. The ship is being heated now by her own power. While 3000 decorators and woodworkers are putting the finishing touches to cabins and public rooms, engineers are standing by in readiness to start up the engines.
