CRITICAL OUTLOOK
FINANCES OF GERMANY NEUTRAL PRESS REPORT (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Reed. Jan. 10, 9 a.m.) COPENHAGEN, Jan. 9. The Politiken says that Germany’s finances are so critical that Marshall Goering may soon be compelled to control all private fortunes and savings. It adds that Germany must find £2,500,000,000 annually at par for the war alone, apart from the normal expenditure, whereas the last war cost her £1,750,000,000 annually. All products are now more expensive. The average soldier, including the family allowance, costs £8 10s a month, instead of 355. Factories cannot obtain raw materials and are taxed put of existence.
