Tennis At Te Hapara Sweet peas were chosen by the hostesses, Mrs. Clark and Miss M. Hopps, for the decoration of the tea table in the pavilion at the Te Hapara Lawn Tennis Club on Saturday afternoon. Among the players were Mesdames Clark, M. Swainson and E. Jackson; Misses E. Cade, N. Cassey, A. Whitty, N. Weeks, D. and N. McKinley, L. Thompson, N. Roderick, J. White, B. O’Meara and M. Hopps. Sports Dance Filled with a merry crowd of revellers, the Tiniroto Hall presented a festive scene on Saturday night, when the Te Reinga Sports Club held a most successful dance as a fitting finale to its annual meeting. Tire surrounding districts were well represented and the large attendance included visitors from as far afield as Gisborne and Wairoa.

Decorations of holly and -coloured streamers provided an effective setting for the dancers and the programme went with a swing to music supplied by the Baty Bros.’ orchestra, extras being contributed by Mrs. C. K. Evans, Tahora, Mrs. Dahm and Mr. E. Baty. During an interval Mrs. T. Richardson, in the absence of Mrs. A. Richardson, wife of the president of the club, presented the trophies won at the meeting. Supper was served informally under the direction of a ladies’ committee. Among those noticed were Mr. and Mrs. T. Richardson, Mr. and Mrs. T. Fahey, Mr. and Mrs. V. Noble-Camp-bell, Mr. and Mrs. J. Metropolitan Tennis Club Playing conditions were all that could be desired on Saturday, when keen enthusiasm was shown by the members of the Metropolitan Lawn Tennis Club. Afternoon tea was served by the lady members. Among those present were Mesdames T. Hill, J. Heeney, W. Thom, and W. Hall; Misses F. Johnston, R. Reardon, J. Smith, L. Linton, J. Alley, E. Livingston, L. Lyons, and J. Johnston. “Pantry Party’’ for Bride-Elect Informality marked the jolly “pantry” party given recently by Mrs. W. D. Morley at Wainui Beach for Miss Mary Barry, whose marriage to Mr. A. McTavish takes place tomorrow. The sitting-room was gay with beautiful hydrangeas, and carnations shed their fragrance upon the charm-ingly-arranged tea table on the porch. Bathing was enjoyed by the guests and later a diverting competition was entered into with enthusiasm, Mrs. A. G. Cairns emerging the winner. After tea the inviting-looking parcels were Opened by the bride-to-be, revealing all manner of useful gifts for the pantry. “Handkerchief” Tea On Saturday afternoon Miss Mary Barry, for whom a pleasant round of parties has been arranged prior to her marriage to Mr. A. McTavish, was the chief guest at a delightful “handkerchief” tea given by Mrs. D. J. Parker and her daughter, Mrs. H. J. Bennett, at the home of the former ini Kaiti esplanade. The drawing-room was gay with summer blooms, hydrangeas predominating. Tea was served in the diningroom, deep cream and crimson gladioli giving a note of colour to the table. A diverting competition, which was won by Mrs. P. Barry, and community singing, with Mrs, Carr at the piano, 1 provided entertainment in variety for the guests. I The parcels were opened later by the bride-to-be, who acknowledged the gifts in a very charming manner. Mrs. Parker was wearing an elegant frock of black crepe satin accented with a corsage posy of red and while roses. Mrs. Bennett wore a becoming frock of white cloque printed in a floral design in pastel tonings. Miss Barry looked smart in a suit of dusky pink silk linen and a small hat of matching straw. Among the guests were Mesdames P. Barry. H. Martin, D. Barry, J. Martin, Hall, Rossbotham, Evans, R. McKay, Quinn, Findlay. A. Chrisp, Dower, C. Parker, H. Hill, and Egan; Misses J. Barry, U. Quinn. S. Brosnahan, and B. Findlay.
