OPINION IN GERMANY
MORE ENERGY PREDICTED MR. STANLEY AND JEWRY (Reed. Jan. 9, 9 a.m.) LONDON, Jan. 8. The Rotterdam correspondent of The Times says that German comment on the British Cabinet changes is confined to (he Secretary for War, Mr. L. Hore-Belisha, and his successor, Mr. O. Stanley. The latter is credited with being as equally an efficient representative of Jewry as Mr. HoreBelisha. Mr. Stanley is stigmatised as an inveterate enemy of Germany and one of the promoters of the policy of encirclement. Some quarters regard the appointment as strengthening the French connection with British policy, heralding a more energetic conduct of the war. DUTIES TAKEN UP (Rccd. Jan. 9, 11.50 a.m.) LONDON. Jan. 8. Sir John Reith arrived at the Ministry of Information to-day and took up his duties. Sir Andrew Duncan similarly _ has taken up his new duties as President of the Board of Trade.
