BETTER RESPONSE

NORTHLAND RECRUITING (Tor Tress Association.) WHANGAREI, this day. Aged 77, a pensioner called at the Whangarei Defence Office keen on enlisting and taking his place among the men of the Second Echelon. During the last few days, recruiting in the Northland area has been better than at any period since the first week of the war. Towards the quota of 339, 7G men have been passed fit, while 142 are ready for examination to-morrow.
