RIGHT FOOT LOST

EARL’S SHOOTING MISHAP Earl Peel, who at 38 is one of Britain’s richest and most eligible bachelors, has had his right foot amputated following a shooting accident. He is reported to be making satisfactory progress. The accident occurred on the estate of a friend in Hampshire. Earl Peel was taken to a nursing home, where the amputation was performed. Lord Peel succeeded to the earldom in 1937, on the death of his father, the first earl. He was elected a director of the L.M.S. Railway at the age of 35.
