U.S.A. AND THE WAR
LETTER FROM COACH "I wonder what effect the war is having on New Zealand,” writes Mr. A. L. Fitch, former athletic coach in Wellington, to Mr. Ben Sutherland. Mr. Fitch states that h? is now employed as assistant manager of a finance company at Berkeley, just across the bay in San Francisco. “Over here,” he says, “we are becoming accustomed to seeing war headlines and this country seems determined to stay out of the war if possible, as you know.' Naturally, we all are in favour of the Allies, and personally I don’t see how the United States can stay out during the next three years.”
“Often,” he adds, “I find myself thinking of my experiences in the Dominion, and most vivid of all are the friendship and goodwill you extended to me during those two interesting summers.”
