BATSMEN & BOWLERS SATURDAY’S CRICKET CLUB GAMES CONTINUE ALL, MATCHES DECIDED Batsmen put up a better display, on the average, in Saturday’s club cricket matches than in any of the previous games of the season, and though there were a few outstanding performances by bowlers, the trundling fraternity did not have things all their own way. All matches were decided, the twoday senior A Grade games being won outright by G. 11.5.0.8. and Marist respectively, and the one-day games were first-innings affairs, as usual. SENIOR A GRADE MARIST BEAT CITY A good second-innings recovery enabled Marist to beat City with four wickets in hand. City batted poorly in their second and threw away a firstinnings advantage. BEAT OLD BOYS Interrupted on the first day with 101 runs for three wickets, against Old Boys’ 85 for their first innings, G.H.5.0.8. carried their score to 173 on resuming. They then dismissed Oid Boys for 106 in their second, and made up the necessary runs for an outright win with the loss of only one wicket.
