DIVORCE FROM BOAT
UNUSUAL SYDNEY CASE
SYDNEY, Dec. 20. The Judge in Divorce, Mr. Justice Boyce, did not create a precedent on Thursday when he opened a court at his home to declare absolute a decree nisi for divorce, to allow one of the parties to remarry that night. Nor was it the first time that a woman had been divorced, remarried, and given birth to a child on the same day. A similar case many years ago is recalled by a city lawyer. The judge in the case was fishing in a boat. Counsel was notified pf the urgent need for the decree nisi being made absolute, and set out .in a fishing boat for the judge. After hooking a fish, the judge, in his boat, decided to hold court immediately.
Counsel, in another boat, read a letter from the Crown, saying it had no objection to the decree absolute being made. The judge immediately pronounced the decree absolute, and the court was adjourned to allow the judge to continue his fishing.
