GOOD ATTENDANCE CHILDREN’S DAY OUT NUMEROUS ENTRIES (Herald Correspondent.) New Year’s, Day, when the Waiapu Athletic Club's annual sports were held, was the hottest day experienced in. Tikitiki this summer, there being a shade temperature of 85 degrees. There was a good attendance, car, loads of people coming from all over the Coast. The management committee, which is to be congratulated on the perfection of its arrangements, comprised Messrs. V. G. 11. Rickard, P. Ngata. Wi Waikare, F. Manuel, D. Green, M. Hyland, president, M. Kururangi, M Petiha, P. Williams, and J. Wilcox. Other officers were: Judges.—Horso events, Messrs. M. Linch and H. Mahuika; chopping.—Messrs. Wi Waikare, Henare Kaa, and M. Petiha; foot events.-—Messrs. D. Swann and Riwai Wawatai. Starters. —Foot events, Mr. F. Manuel; horse events, Mr. F. Manuel; chopping. Mr. P. Ngata. Handicappers: Foot events, Messrs. V. G. H. Rickard and F. Manuel; chopping, Messrs. P. Ngata and H. Kaa. The joint secretaries were Messrs. J. Karauria and J. Walker, the treasurer, Mr. V. G. H. Rickard and the assistant treasurer, Mr. J. L. Coates. It was certainly a day out for the children, for whom the merry-go-round and side shows held more attraction than the ring events Good entries were received for all events.
