JOTTINGS FROM

j LAST APPEARANCE | PLANS FOR BEAULIVRE TO RACE IN AUSTRALIA WINNING TOTAL £6BBO By “Trenton” Beaulivre, who was beaten into second place in the Great Northern Derby by Beau Vite at Ellerslie, is to do his racing in Australia, and his owner has announced that there is little chance of him being seen again in New Zealand, as he is not a big horse and his chances would be very limited in the Dominion on account of the few weight-for-age races here. Purchased in July at the dispersal sale of horses owned by the late W. Higgins for £3045, Beaulivre has earned £4505 for Mr. E. C. Harnett, who secured him on the advice of S. J. Reid, in whose care he was immediately placed. As a two-year-old ' Beaulivre was trained by H. Telford, and in 11 starts scored six firsts, four seconds and a third, earning £2315 for his late owner. As he was successful in his last two races as a two-year’s old, Beaulivre has now won 11 times in succession and has the very fine record of 15 wins, five seconds and a third for his 21 starts, with total earnings of £OBBO.

Included in Beaulivre’s successes last season were the Wellesley Stakes, Wellington Stakes and Nursery Handicap at Trentham, the Champagne Stakes and 47th Challenge Stakes at Riccarton. During the current season he has made light of such races as the Wanganui, Avondale and Great Northern Guineas, Trentham Stakes, Harcourt Stakes, and New Zealand Derby Stakes. At the Canterbury Jockey Club’s meeting last month, Beaulivre, with 8.10. won the Stewards’ Handicap in 1.11. He won the King's Plate at Ellerslie and finished second to Beau Vite in both the Derby and Clifford Plate. Beaulivre is to join the stable of the former New Zealander, G. Price. All going well in the interval, Beaulivrc will havfe 'his first start in Australia in the Futurity Stakes at the Victoria Amateur Turf Club’s February meeting at. Caulfield. Beaulivre will probably leave for Sydney this week. ■ :• ;■%.
